Hello friends! My name is Melissa, and I'm a recent graduate of Monash University's Digital Arts degree, Caulfield. I know to some extent how to use the following software:

My most recent tricks involve animation and video editing. Most yearly folios on this site are marked by the particular software I had a desire to learn more thoroughly at the time, and a lot of my projects for those years consequently use that software. I have a feeling that 2010 is going to be marked by a lot of website production, given my recent leap into Joomla!.

I have always been passionate about art and design, but it was only in year 12 that I actually began using computers to produce digital art. On my slow chunky PII lappy with Arcsoft PhotoStudio 2.0 (which had no layer support at that time!) in a stuffy portable classroom at Yea High School, I made my very first steps into the digital arts realm. Now, seven years on I love making animation, digital stills, websites, and Flash UIs.

Stuff I like doing:

  • Reading web comics (Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, Explosm, Dinosaur comics, Penny Arcade, White Ninja, XKCD, Left-handed toons)
  • Reading blogs (I can has cheezburger, Failblog, Circlebox, Design Droplets)
  • Making things with my hands (I really like modelling with clay, and constructing things with wood and good ol' fashioned elbow grease)
  • Playing video games! Especially team based games with friends.
My best assets:
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Ridiculous attention to detail
  • Scrutinous! I like to make sure things are thought through. Of course, as things never go as planned, there's always problem solving!
  • Practical
  • Good team supporter
